Artist Concept:
This early piece represents a beautiful exploration of upcycled materials and the simplicity of nail art. Created on a piece of reclaimed wood, the Tui is intricately crafted from wool and nails, showcasing my initial foray into this medium. During this period, I was still discovering my unique artistic style, experimenting with various techniques and materials. This experimentation is a crucial part of my creative process, allowing me to continuously evolve and keep my work fresh and fascinating. Though sold, this piece remains a significant milestone in my artistic journey.
Junk and Disorderly Disclaimer:
I am in the business of Junk, old unused items people are going to throw away. My joy as a recreator is to wave my magic shiny wand and transform them into something I am proud to send out my door. It must be said though, that there is nothing perfect in the old (sorry mum) - if you look closely, you are going to find rust, scratches or the odd ugly backside as I endeavour to do my best in a sustainable way. With upcycling, must come the understanding that these come to you flawed. like the sediment in an old wine, or a tarnished old coin from years ago. Enjoy the old and celebrate our flaws, old or new! Thanks MSM.
Bungalow Tui (Sold)
My Shiny Perspective:
Ah, "Bungalow Tui" – where bird meets bungalow and wool meets wood! This piece is like the kiwi version of a cozy cottage, complete with a Tui who’s probably wondering where all the other birds are. The wool is like a warm scarf for the bird, and the nails? Well, they’re just holding everything together, literally! This Tui is the king of its little wooden castle, perched proudly on its reclaimed throne, singing songs of the good old days when all you needed was a bit of yarn and some nails to make art. It’s a cheeky nod to the simplicity of life and the joy of creating something out of almost nothing. And who wouldn’t want a Tui like this keeping them company?
