Concept:
"Showtime Reality 2.0" is a darker, more introspective take on the original "Showtime" piece. The artwork explores the duality between the glamorous facade of life and the hidden, often harsh realities that lie beneath. Through the use of contrasting elements and a more sombre palette, it delves into the dissonance between appearance and reality, urging viewers to reflect on the masks they wear in their own lives. The vibrant energy of the original is still present but is now tinged with shadows, symbolising the complexity and depth of human experience
Artist Statement (Serious me):
"Showtime Reality 2.0" represents the juxtaposition between the dazzling allure of outward appearances and the often unsettling truths that exist beneath the surface. In this piece, I have chosen to embrace a more subdued and shadowed colour palette to convey the complexity of maintaining a facade in the face of life's challenges. The contrast between light and dark within the work is a visual metaphor for the dual nature of reality—where what we present to the world is often at odds with what we feel internally. This piece invites the viewer to contemplate the pressures of societal expectations and the personal cost of keeping up appearances.
Artist Statement (Silly me):
"Showtime Reality 2.0" is like the original "Showtime" after it realised that life isn’t all sparkles and confetti—sometimes, it's more like glitter in your eye and confetti that won’t vacuum up! I wanted to show what happens when the spotlight fades and you're left with yesterday’s party mess. Sure, the glitz is still there, but now it's hiding a few existential crises and the remains of a pizza that nobody finished. This piece is for anyone who’s ever smiled through the chaos and wondered, "Is it too late to just go back to bed?"
