This artwork, titled "My Little Pony Goddess," is a heartfelt tribute to great people, great memories, and great ponies everywhere. Named after one of my dearest friends, Isis, the piece reflects her beautiful love of ponies.
Isis, the Egyptian goddess of love, healing, fertility, magic, and the moon, held immense significance in ancient Egyptian religious beliefs. Known by various names, including Aset or Eset, she was revered for her magical power, cleverness, and the ability to heal and protect. In creating this pony, I felt as though she embodied some of those same qualities, transforming from a derelict figure into a beautifully vibrant piece with its own personality.
I was also given a box of buckles and fabulous things from a dear friend's father, the wise, cheeky, and take-no-SH*%^* Mr Christopher Beck, now passed on and very missed. I carried that box of buckles around (rumoured to be from the set of Xena: Warrior Princess!) for the last, ahem, 20 years. These special adornments add layers of sentimentality and history to the piece. After painstakingly transforming this pony, I swear she started smiling at me, revealing a character all her own. Though I hadn't intended to sell prints, it feels as if she deserves the glamour and attention, calling out for it in her own unique way.
